Do you ever wonder what your future baby would look like? Or, what your baby would look like if you hooked up with your biggest crush? iBabyMaker will show you!

iBabyMaker uses cutting edge facial feature recognition technology and digital image processing to create an estimated baby image from two parent images. Here is how it works: you select the parent images, zoom in on the faces, and then tell iBabyMaker to make your baby. After a few seconds your baby is "born." You can then e-mail the photo of your baby to your friends and family!

You can choose the parents by using the iPhone/iPod Touch camera, your photo library or the preloaded iBabyMaker sample photo library.

iBabyMaker is a great conversation starter! You can create babies with your friends photos and match them up with each other or anyone else. Use iBabyMaker to show your potential new girlfriend what your children would look like!

Using iBabyMaker

The first view in iBabyMaker is your baby gallery; from here you can view existing babies, initiate creation of a new baby or delete babies. Here is an example of that view.

 

Important Tip: Our facial feature recognition software works best when the photo of the person shows their face directly from the front. Avoid photos with the following characteristics,
  • Tilting of the head too far to one side.
  • A view that is not directly in front of the person.
  • People with substantial facial hair or have their hair blocking their face.
  • Photos of people with their mouths wide open or with objects in their mouth.
  • People with dark glasses or thick framed glasses.
Baby Gallery View

This view shows a list of the babies you've created.

From this view you can,

  • Show the details of a baby by simply pressing/tapping it in the list to reveal the Baby Detail View.
  • Initiate creation of a new baby by tapping the "Create a New Baby" button.
  • Delete babies by tapping the "Edit" button or swiping one of the list entries.

 

Create a New Baby View

This view is the starting point for creating a new baby; it's where the images for the parents are selected.

The image for each parent can be selected from

  • The local iPhone photo library via the "Photo Library" button
  • The iBabyMaker sample photo library via the "Popular" button.
  • The iPhone camera via the "Camera" button

In the screen shot to the left, the top image was selected from the camera library and the bottom image was selected from the sample library.

 

Crop Image View

When you select a photo from your personal photo library or take a new photo using the iPhone camera, this view allows you to pan and zoom to the face of the person you want to use as the parent.

Note: It's important that the photo includes only the face of the person you want to use as the baby parent.

The image on the left shows a photo that was selected from the iPhone library, notice how the subjects face is not fully show. It needs to be panned and zoomed to focus on the subject.

The image below shows the image after panning and zooming to the subject; notice the face of the other person in the image is not shown.

 

 

 

Baby Detail View

This view shows an expanded view of the baby resulting from the two parents.

From this view you can,

  • Return to the baby gallery via the "Home" button
  • View how well the facial features of the parent were detected by iBabyMaker by pressing the button.
  • Send the baby image to friends and family via e-mail by pressing the button.
  • Delete the baby results by pressing the button.

 

Feature Detection View

This view is a variation of the baby detail view which shows the outline of the features detected by iBabyMaker in the parent images. If the fetures were well detected, the outlines will closely match the image.

Note, if the feature outlines do not closely match the underlying picture, the quality of the resulting baby may not be good.

 
   
 

Send E-Mail View

This view allows you to compose an e-mail including the baby you selected and send it to your friends and family.

To send an e-mail the first thing you do is select the recipients by tapping the "To..." button. This launches the iPhone's contacts browser from where you can select the recipients.

Although the baby image is not shown on this view, it is sent as an inline attachment in the e-mail.

To send the e-mail tap the "Send" button.
